Occupational Therapists report

If you are applying for an available grant from a local authority you will be asked for an occupational therapist’s report with advice on how best to adapt your home to meet your needs.

This report includes a thorough and holistic assessment of the client in their home environment.

We assess the client during his or her daily living activities from basics such as washing or dressing to more advanced activities such as going to work or going out into the community. After checking your performance while doing these activities an occupational therapist will be able to determine if you might benefit by using a technical aid or by some modification in your environment to improve your level of safety or independence.

The modifications required may include the installation of grab rails in the toilet or house entrance, the installation of ramps, as well as major equipment and adaptations such as stair-lifts, bath-lifts and wet-floor shower areas.

We will provide you with an occupational therapist’s report supporting your application for the grants and if required we will put you in contact with suppliers and help you in the application process for the grant if required.

The following grants are currently available:

  • Housing adaptation grant for people with a disability.
  • Mobility aids grant scheme.
  • Housing aid for older person’s scheme.
